Need some Monday motivation to kick start your week?

Try your hand at writing a flash fiction story with a beginning, middle, and end in 100 words or fewer, based on the image below. Don’t include the title in the word count and you are free to choose the genre.

You can share it here by posting it as a comment, post it to your own blog with a link back here, or keep it to yourself; either way, enjoy the process.

  1. Leaves of Hope.

‘Sir, there’s something stuck to your boots.’
‘They must have come from outside. Who knows what they are?’
‘They look weird. All those different colours.’
‘They are leaves. Before the ChemWar, their nutrients rejuvenated the soil to prepare for new growth.’
‘Did they live in pods like us?’
‘Everything lived outside, under the sun.’
‘But if we went out without suits we’d burn up.’
‘Before the planets imploded it was safe. Their reappearance is a hopeful sign; perhaps they are preparing to regenerate the earth. Maybe one day we will be able to return to our natural world.’
